Wisdom from the youth is part of a series of posts on our interactions with young people for the dialogue on Climate Change (now against the backdrop of the COVID pandemic). These were each in their own way eye-opening. The focus was on looking at the positives coming out of this pandemic and how the youth felt about the bigger challenge that faces humanity – Climate Change. While we were familiar with the Lego® Serious Play® Methodology, there were several firsts:
– A new design thanks to #Bricks4Change core team
– A new medium – mostly virtual
– New circumstances – given a global lockdown and pandemic
– A non-corporate subject and set-up
What we gained: Yet another viewpoint
Here follows our dialogues in a rapid-fire sequence with pictures. And what we gained out of them: wisdom from the youth!
This is the NINTH conversation using Lego Serious Play(LSP) and across the globe using a virtual medium.
Subsequently we’ve had several meaningful conversations with youngsters from ages 10 to 27. This continues. Keep watching this space for more.
Vivaan : Student
I’ve worked upon my art skills and am improving immensely
We had a virtual Lego Serious Play session with Vivaan much earlier into the lockdown. Quiet, soft-spoken and sensitive, Vivaan told us how he was making the most of his free time at home. He has taken up his art again and already felt at that time that he was getting better.
Warming up to baking
The lockdown has had Vivaan spending more time in the kitchen and discovering the joys of baking thanks to his mother. It has caught his fancy, he says and he is getting better at it. Vivaan talks about the family spending quality time together as an outcome of the lockdown. And then there’s Nature replenishing herself. His promise for the future? Not to waste water and conserve resources.
The Lego Serious Play Session: Our individual takes
|“Thank you for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this wonderful session. Anything to do with Legos has always been fascinating for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the session as it helped me to use my creativity with legos in a different manner completely” says Vivaan.
For me it was yet another insight into a young mind that feels responsible towards the environment and is ready to contribute from his side. Truly, the young are ready to inherit this world.
